TRIPIL CIL'S Five Core Services
Skills Training

Skills training is learning – or re-learning – how to be self-sufficient in today’s world. Through skills training, adults and youth with disabilities may acquire and develop the skills needed to live independently.

Empowerment is incorporated into each skill area a consumer decides is needed to increase their independence. The idea behind skills training is to use YOUR OWN abilities to increase your self-reliance and self-confidence.

Individual or group training on a variety of topics is available. Some examples include:

  • Traveling and using public transportation
  • Budgeting and money management
  • Communication and social skills
  • Self care, medical management, and nutrition
  • Self advocacy and problem solving
  • Increasing access to supports and resources
  • Networking and finding social and recreational opportunities
