TRIPIL Capital Campaign Q & A
Q: What is the purpose of TRIPIL's Capital Campaign?
A: The TRIPIL Capital Campaign is a community-based effort to raise funds for the renovation of the former YWCA Headquarters Building in Washington PA.
Q: How much money to you need for the project?
A: We anticipate that the project will require $9 million.
Q: Wouldn't it have been cheaper to build a new facility or find some other building?
A: Actually, no. Costs for new construction have been rising steadily, far in excess of inflation. The decision to purchase and renovate the former YWCA Building was made after a nearly two year search to find a right-sized facility with sufficient accessible parking necessary to satisfy TRIPIL's current and projected needs.
Q: Why do you feel the need to move now?
A: Quite simply, we have outgrown our facility. Not only do we lack sufficient space for our staff, but due to the increase in need for our services, our present location can no longer adequately handle the volume of individuals with disabilities seeking services. Since 2009, our consumer caseload has jumped by nearly 40%.
Q: Why should the community support TRIPIL's efforts?
A: The "Y" has been an asset to our region for decades and many have fond memories of attending concerts, dances, plays, and other events. TRIPIL intends to share the building with area residents -- the auditorium and stage area, gym, meeting rooms and exercise facilities will be available for community use. We intend for the "Y" to once again assume a central role in our community.
Q: What can we, as community members, help TRIPIL to reach its goals?
A: We invite all community members to donate to the effort. You will help your friends, family, and neighbors help themselves, and get a great return on your tax-deductible investment in our community.
Q: What will the building look like when finished?
Q: Will you be reopening the pool?
