We are a Center for Independent Living that advocates for the civil rights of people with disabilities and promotes living well with a disability in our local community. Our mission is to foster a community and worksite that encourages and motivates ourselves and others to live well and make personal health a priority. We strive to create an atmosphere where ongoing support, healthy behaviors, and disease prevention are woven into our corporate culture and our daily lives.

TRIPIL can help you start down that road with peer support and a place to demonstrate the use of accessible fitness equipment here in Washington. If you are interested, please complete the “Interest in Wellness Sign Up” application.

TRIPIL's fitness center is the launching pad for those interested in increasing their awareness of the positive effects of physical fitness. We have universally accessible resistance training equipment and have staff available to support your fitness goal.

We are designing programs are to assist staff and consumers to choose healthier behaviors such as being more physically active or community integration activities such as:

  • "Wellness Wednesdays" to raise awareness using Nintendo Wii bowling and dancing
  • Weigh To Go! - a seven-week lifestyle maintenance challenge for the holidays. Participants weigh in before Thanksgiving and document their sugary soda intake, vegetable intake, fruit intake, step count and check their progress and weigh out after New Year’s Day.
  • Rolling Stones - a 6-week program, participants using a pedometer and ergometer to count and record their daily number of steps or body movements equivalent to steps.

You already know that being disabled is a way of life. We do things differently and view life differently, too sometimes. Mostly, we are not sick. Many of us haven't seen a doctor in years and rarely take medications!

However, we now know that if we fail to take care, we will be plagued by Secondary Conditions. Learn what you need to know about your risks and defense plan.

Community Life means a good mix of activities in fully integrated activities and some with your neighbors with disabilities. TRIPIL is bringing people together to explore the community together. Learn more by taking part in our Living Well survey. Just call us at 724-223-5115.
