People with disabilities want to be active and independent. Being dependent upon an agency to send in personal care attendants can slow you down. Being your own employer of the people who come into your home is the ideal way to keep control of your life and keep control of your privacy. YOU choose who comes in and what the worker does at work. TRIPIL promotes the Consumer Employer Model and is there to help with things get complicated.

Complications include:

• Payroll issues
• Worker training
• Recruiting
• Wages & Benefits

Consumer Employers are one of the finest examples of independent living. The "Consumer Employer Model" sets up the person using the service as
that individual as a legal employer that is able to hire and fire
their own personal care attendants. A consumer employer also can set their
own work schedules for their attendants. Consumer employers will not have
to rely on our organization to set a schedule or hire an attendant. They
have full decision making abilities and responsibilities.

Learn more about the Consumer Workforce Council. Our Governor appointed Council will bring Consumer Employers to the table to talk directly to the Commonwealth about working conditions for their attendant employees.
